Angelo Badalamenti - "Laura Palmer's Theme"

Those of us old enough and lucky enough to have seen David Lynch's "Twin Peaks" television series from the early 1990s will instantly remember the hauntingly beautiful "Laura Palmer's Theme," created by Angelo Badalamenti:

And here is an interview with Angelo Badalamenti, discussing how he and David Lynch composed this track:

“The Family Album of Lucybelle Crater” by Ralph Eugene Meatyard

A wonderful and creepy series of photos from Ralph Eugene Meatyard.

From Juxtapoz:

Throughout the 1950’s, 60’s, and early 70’s, Ralph Eugene Meatyard created a series of photographs titled “The Family Album of Lucybelle Crater” in which he photographed his wife wearing an old hag’s mask in the role of Lucybelle Crater, along with other Meatyard family members and friends who are also wearing masks. The resulting images are both comical and grotesque with an underlying strangeness that is visually intriguing. The photographs are all black and white, which allows the masks worn by Meatyard’s characters to blend in with the rest of the figure in a hauntingly realistic way. In 1974, a book containing the 64 image series was published by the Jargon Society.

The book The Family Album of Lucybelle Crater, originally published in 1974,
has been recently re-released and is available at Amazon.

Happy Birthday, Basil Gogos!

From Amazon:

Basil Gogos changed the face of classic horror with his film monster portrait art. Like a bizarro-world Norman Rockwell, he created magazine covers of Frankenstein, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Phantom of the Opera, and countless others in horrifying yet dazzling images throughout the 1960s and '70s. His intense colour and bold, impressionistic brushwork gave a unique sense of drama and sophistication to these iconic characters.

Gogos is most famous for his lush monster portraits that adorned the covers of Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine during the 60s and 70s.

And finally, my autographed Topps Universal Monsters card featuring Boris Karloff as The Mummy. I won this in 2010 from Weird Hollow. Still one of my favorite pieces...

Gogos' work has been compiled into a collectible book entitled, Famous Monster Movie Art of Basil Gogos. Available now at amazon.com.

Svartsinn - "Torchbearer, Kill The Light"

I just came across another fantastic dark ambient track. Perfect music to listen to while I have been working on a few new things for 2014. This time, it's Norway's Svartsinn with the 2010 track, Torchbearer, Kill The Light.

I know the blog has been music heavy as of late, but keep checking in, as the music has been fueling the creativity in the Cemetery and I will be revealing some new work shortly.
