Devil's Night

Here we are. The day before Halloween. These 30 days leading up to the High Holiday have absolutely flown by again. I sure could use another 30 days to celebrate...

Here's a quick teaser photo from our trick-or-treat, which was Sunday night. The weather was perfect. Cool, dry and no wind. The Candy Corn Gods looked upon us again with good favor.

But of course, good October weather doesn't last long in Ohio, so we decided to pull most of the display down in anticipation of today's rainstorms and high wind gusts. I really didn't want to have an empty yard on Halloween night, but quickly realized that I REALLY didn't want my hand-made props blowing down the street, either.

So tomorrow, I have decided to set up a quick and different little display. One last offering to the Candy Corn Gods. One last celebration of Halloween. I'm actually pretty excited for this! I'll be sure to snap a few photos of it, too.

In the meantime, let's celebrate to our fullest capacity for Halloween. Get out tonight for a little mischievous Devil's Night fun and then absolutely go all out tomorrow. It's the day we have waited for all year...

Sunday Sneak Peek

So it's now early on my trick-or-treat Sunday afternoon, and it hasn't stopped raining all day... I knew this was coming, so I set up the full show last night in order to get my photos and video done. And I'm so glad I did! Perfect weather last night lent itself to a nice, quiet evening of shooting.

The Candy Corn offerings have been made and fingers crossed it stops raining for just a few hours tonight...

Here is just one image from last night's photo session to tease before tonight's soggy trick-or-treat. Regardless of the weather, it's go time for Highbury Cemetery. Wish us luck!

October 19, 2018

Exactly six months from today, Michael returns to Haddonfield.

The new teaser poster for Halloween was released today, showing an aged, one-eyed Michael Myers.

The excitement is slowly starting to build at the Cemetery, an now the official countdown begins. I'm staying cautiously optimistic for this one and I'm really hoping this new "sequel after part 2" really nails it.

More info at Bloody Disgusting.

Stranger Things Season 2 Super Bowl Ad

I didn't watch any of the Super Bowl, but I knew that there would be a teaser for Stranger Things Season 2 during one of the commercial breaks. Just bummed that we have to wait until Halloween for the start of it... But Dustin in a Ghostbusters costume is pretty rad!

And now we wait.

Cities Last Broadcast - Teaser 2

Kammarheit's Pär Boström has just released a new teaser for his side project, Cities Last Broadcast. More dark ambient, but I'm REALLY liking the menacing sounds emanating from this clip. I can't wait for this release to come out, and according to Pär, we won't have long to wait...

MHC 2015 Costume Teaser

With mere hours to spare, my costume for MHC 2015 is finally done. I'm ready to pack it all up and head out for Columbus early in the morning. But not before a quick teaser photo in the garage...

Dr. Albertin Kyphosis was a wretch of a man if there ever was one. With a hideous spine and a cocked eye, the Doctor practiced a medicine that few could ascertain. Some say that he walked a fine line through the practice of Alchemy and wore vials of the Elixir of Life around his old, gnarled neck...

If you're at the Midwest Haunter's Convention this weekend, keep an eye out for old Dr. Kyphosis at the Saturday night Masquerade Ball. You'll be able to see the Doctor in his full regalia. Come up and say hello! I'm heading out tomorrow morning and will be back on Sunday night with a card full of photos and stories to share.

The Night Before Halloween

Less than 24 hours to go! It's the night before Halloween, and I'm working in circles to get things done for tomorrow's big show. I'm bleary eyed, but the adrenaline shooting through my veins is keeping me going...

All of the big props are done and ready to go, all of the little pieces parts are in their proper staging areas and the makeup reference photos are all laid out. Tomorrow's checklist is written so that I can knock out each step in order to be ready to face the onslaught of trick-or-treaters.

I had time for my annual "Night Before Halloween" movie:

And I even had a chance to get a nice teaser pic for tomorrow night's display. Weather aside, I'm hoping to pull off our best yard haunt yet.

After months of planning and building, the big night is finally upon us. Halloween is here. Are you ready?

On The Eve Of Halloween...

Here we are, the day before the big celebration. Halloween. The last of the props will be finished tonight, all pieces have been diagrammed and all props and lights have been tested. We're almost ready to go. Almost.

Four months of planning and building all come down to this. A flawless execution of set up and tear down in less than 18 hours. Our commitment to the season. Our commitment to trick-or-treat.

This one will be tough, because as I look at the weather forecast, Mother Nature looks set to play her trick on us. The past 4 days have been sunny and relatively mild. Tomorrow? 100% chance of rain. The third or fourth year in a row where it rains on Halloween. But we have decided to press on. We will give the neighborhood the show that they have come to expect from us. I just hope that all of our props and lighting can withstand Mother Nature's nastiness.

As in previous years, I like to give a juicy little snippet of things to come and this year is no different. A teaser to stoke excitement. A nugget of things to come.

I've put a lot of time and effort into this year's display and a little weather won't stop me. Tonight, I'll put the final touches on the pieces for the yard, I'll slowly start to relax, pour a Drunken Jacko-approved beverage and pop in my annual Halloween Eve BluRay of Trick 'r Treat and get set to put on one hell of a show tomorrow.

And be sure to stop by tomorrow morning as I have one last treat up my sleeve to share with everyone!

Happy Halloween!

The big day is finally here! Happy Halloween from Highbury Cemetery!! The final props are being set up as I type, the makeup kit is ready to transform and we wait patiently for the children to come tonight in ravenous packs for their treats. I hope everyone has had an amazing season thus far and is ready to cap it all off with a bang. Months of planning and building all come down to this!

And like every Halloween, I'll drop a little teaser from the cemetery for everyone. This year, we're going high tech...

The QR code above will be placed at the end of the driveway tonight. Parents and their kids can scan the image with their smartphones for an extra little treat. Why not give it a try with your phone now? Don't have a smartphone? No problem. You can just click here!

And because I can't go through October without at least one mention of The Misfits...

Happy Halloween, everyone! Check back later in the week to see photos and video from the big night here at Highbury Cemetery!!

Halloween Teaser

Okay group, I hope that everyone is having a great Halloween Eve! Whether you've got your trick or treating tonight, going to a Halloween party or just staying home with a scary movie, I hope it's full of screams and terrorific fun!

We're just putting the final touches on this year's edition of the cemetery. I've got one more prop to fix, lay out the extension cords for all of the lighting, pop in my zombie contact lenses and don the annual costume with makeup and we're ready to go.

Just wanted to share a quick teaser photo for tomorrow's haunt. We're expecting a ton of friends and co-workers to stop by and even more neighborhood children to pass through our ghastly gates. I've been working all day, but I'm still wound up tight. The past 3 months of work will all pay off in 20 short hours. How am I supposed to sleep tonight?

Okay, the teaser shot is similar to last year's, but we've redone our front porch and I can't wait to post the pics. A big thanks to Jenn for taking the lead on the redesign. It looks great!! Here is the skull shelf...

Okay, that's all we're revealing tonight. I just finished printing this year's t-shirt and we're going to sit down at watch our annual Halloween Eve movie, Trick 'r Treat.

Okay, Halloween is tomorrow. The final weather report:
47 degrees and partly cloudy, with a 20% chance of rain.
