Happy Bandcamp Friday, everyone! Black Mountain Transmitter released a "new" track today to celebrate. Horror Rises From The Tomb was originally released on a limited cassette split back in 2024, but is now available digitally as a single on Bandcamp. A 15 minute dirge of reverbed, industrial ambient with undertones of classic horror creepiness, this track is another must-add for the Halloween season playlists or yard haunt audio tracks.

And today is the perfect day to do it, because on Bandcamp Friday, Bandcamp waives its revenue share so that artists and labels receive nearly all of the money from your purchase!

Slasher Dave - "Hell's Harvest"

Does this guy ever sleep?? Slasher Dave releases new music faster than I release blog posts!

Here's another great new Halloween release, "Hell's Harvest."

The idea in my head for this song was a possessed scarecrow that comes to life to slaughter farm residents. Very Midwest. It's also a different style for me with the strings. I've been open to more experimentation. A little snake charmer sexy vibe, too?

Midnight Syndicate - "Sleep (Roxyblue Remix)"

I want to give a huge shoutout of congratulations to my good haunt friend Roxyblue! Her remix of the track Sleep has been included on the newest Midnight Syndicate release, Darkened Corners.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this track. Much darker, minimal and melancholic than the usual Midnight Syndicate fare, Sleep is a short, haunting whisp of classical Gothic unease with just the right amount of subtle spookiness. Easily the best track on the new release and one that should go into everyone's Halloween playlist.

Laughing Hands - "Ledge"

Back at it with another great ambient release to get us into that dark Halloween mood. This time from Laughing Hands, an Australian experimental group and their 1980 release, Ledge. I recently discovered this track through ZoydRa's incredible YouTube channel, choc full of rare and obscure ritual, ambient and industrial releases.

This one really nails that droning, creepy Halloween ambient feel. Maybe not what they were originally going for way back in 1980, but it still sounds so modern today. Definitely one to add to your Halloween playlist. Enjoy!

  

This Tape Is Haunted!

A shoutout to Brent at Planet Doom Haunt for reminding me that this one just came out. Lamp & Dagger just released This Tape Is Haunted!, a GREAT throwback compilation reminiscent of all those great old nostalgic "spooky sounds" records and cassettes! This one is right up my alley!!

"Halloween at High Noon: Haunted" by Dead End Ranch

Halloween At High Noon has released their annual October offering, and this year it's Haunted...

I'm really digging this particular release, as it leans toward atmospheric, dark ambient audio. My favorite! Perfect for the dark Halloween season, and definitely one to add to your spooky collection. Enjoy!

Black Moon - A Dark Ambient Industrial Mix

Since discovering the dark ambient genre many years ago, I have listened to it to help with falling asleep, while concentrating on projects at work, while working on Halloween props in the garage, and most importantly as the audio component in my yard haunt. I absolutely love it.

And one of the current go-to labels of the dark ambient genre is Cyclic Law, who consistently put out top-notch releases, including many cool mixes on their YouTube channel. Simply press play and get transported to a dark, ethereal place.

Last month they released Black Moon, A Dark Ambient Industrial Mix and I have been listening to it repeatedly. A really cool sampling from their most recent releases, all of which flow together into a nice dark, discordant atmosphere. Perfect for a night in the garage, hammering out this year's Halloween props!

Another incredible dark ambient track from legendary Swedish artist, Desiderii Marginis. This track, The Silence of a Thousand Years, is the first single from his upcoming release, Departed. So much atmosphere on this one, I cannot wait for the full release...

The pulse quickens as blood pounds through constricting veins. You stand alone at the rusted entry way on a dark, moonless night. Black shadows of barren trees dance around you in the stark autumn wind. The icy chill of night fog creeps ominously around the gravestones of those who walked these grounds centuries before, beckoning your entrance inward. The single, ghoulishly carved jack-o-lantern must be illuminated in appeasement of the spirits and the dark offering for All Hallows Eve will be complete…

For this track, I went with more of a straight dark ambient sound, focusing on the creepier tones throughout, and I'm really happy with the way this one turned out. Ominous, yet restrained.
