Daniel Davies Feat. John Carpenter - "Destructive Field"

Oh man, do I LOVE this new track from Daniel Davies. So dark and menacing. And with the addition of bandmate (and Godfather) John Carpenter, I think it's one of their best collaborations to date.

Davies' new release, Signals, drops next week on Sacred Bones Records and I cannot wait to spin this one. If the rest of the tracks are anywhere near as good as this, it's going to be living on my turntable for quite a while...

And if this dark collaboration is a hint of things to come for Carpenter's upcoming Halloween Kills, we are all going to be in for a hell of a treat!

Enjoy.

"Cupid's Revenge": A Recap

Well, "pro haunt actor" outing number two is in the books and it was pretty amazing. Last night, I had the chance to guest act at the Haunted Schoolhouse and Laboratory's "Cupid's Revenge" Valentines haunt.

It was my second time working as a guest actor at the Schoolhouse (an absolute favorite haunt of mine since I was 13), and I think I had more fun this time around. Both times I was a queue line actor, menacing the guests as they stood in the long lines to enter the haunt.

But this time, it was as if a light switch was thrown. As soon as I transformed into my plague doctor character, I was in a completely different, darker mindset. Completely ready to go...

I canvassed the crowds all night long, eliciting a few screams, nervous laughs, and many,  many compliments and photo requests. Everybody was in excellent spirits and it really made for a fun evening. And to top it off, I had the chance to show my stuff for quite a few haunter friends that made it out to enjoy the haunt (some of which came from other highly-regarded pro haunts, so I hope that I represented the Schoolhouse well!).

The night really flew by, and by closing time I was pretty worn down. But I still had a smile on my face. Something about getting into character and working the line comes unexpectedly easy, and very, very fun for me.

I have to thank Dave, Katie, and all my fellow queue line actors for allowing me another chance to come out and play. October is only 8 more months away, and I hope I can come back and do it all again. I have really taken a liking to this new facet of haunting and I hope I can develop it further. Something I had only dreamed of as a young 13-year-old haunt fanatic.

And at the end of the night, I got the chance to do a walkthrough of the haunt. I was REALLY impressed with the updated scenes. John and his crew have transformed the old Schoolhouse and taken it to the next level. If you have never been, or if you haven't been in a while, it's time to put Akron's Haunted Schoolhouse and Laboratory on your haunt bucket list. It's guaranteed to scare the YELL out of you!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Highbury, The Pro Haunt Actor - Pt. 2!

Here I go again!

Last October, I had the chance to fulfill a lifelong haunter's dream by working as a pro haunt actor at the infamous Haunted Schoolhouse and Laboratory here in Akron, Ohio. It was only two nights, but I had an absolute blast each night!

I quickly found my haunt groove and the entire experience felt completely natural and quite energizing. After the second night, I was absolutely exhausted, but determined that I would definitely do it all again.

And tomorrow, I get my next chance! I will again be guest acting, this time at the Schoolhouse's "Cupid's Revenge" Valentine-themed haunt. And I can't wait. I guess my first stint was good enough to warrant a call-back to do it again...

So if you're in the Northeast Ohio area with nothing to do on a Saturday night (because you have already fulfilled your Valentine duties on Friday night like I have), get to the Haunted Schoolhouse and Laboratory. Free chocolate bars! Free commemorative wristbands! A Valentine photo op with your sweetie! And a chance to meet me!! I will again be working as a queue line actor, looking to scare the YELL out of you!

And if this spot is any indication, this weekend's haunt is going to be one hell of a party!! "More dumpster babies!"

Look for me tomorrow night! I hope to have a Valentine-themed costume, but I only have roughly 8 hours to create something cool from this...

Time to get to work...

2020 Starts Today...

So there I was, enjoying another much-needed clean break from all things Halloween. October thoughts had been relegated to the back burner, allowing other life passions to get some much needed attention.

And then it happened.

This past weekend, we were at a neighbor's surprise birthday party having a great time. The neighbor was introducing me to some of his other friends, when out of nowhere he started telling them about my crazy/incredible Halloween display. And a few of the friends became very interested, asking all about it. By the end of the conversation, a few of them were really excited and very intent on coming over to check it out this year...

Ding. Break over.

Looks like it's time to bring those simmering October thoughts off of the back burner and get it over some high heat right up front. The light switch has been thrown and it's now time to start thinking about Highbury Cemetery, 2020.

Last year turned out to be surprisingly good for our first display in our new location. We really shocked the neighborhood (in a good way) and got the attention of the neighbors.

So it looks like I'll be doing it again this year, and as always, adding a bit more to this year's show. And I can't wait.

In thinking about this all, the new ideas are already starting to flow. There's a lot to organize and plan, and eight months may seem like a long time, but those days will fly by and it won't be long until we're again sitting at October's door.

It's time to jump back in and get things moving. There's a lot to get to in the upcoming months, so let's get the Halloween vibe going again.

And stop back tomorrow, as I'll have a special announcement for all you haunter lovebirds out there!
