veteran producers in the genre, Apocryphos, Kammarheit & Atrium Carceri, collaborate on this behemoth of an album. Each utilizing each others strengths to bring forth a dark and emotional ride through distant memories.
Onyx is a soundscape journey related to the reflection of dispirited memories and obscure sorrows felt by mankind. With the multitude of techniques used by each artist, it also reflects the rich history of the dark ambient genre and how it has progressed through the decades.
The signature analogue darkness of gargantuan caves of Kammarheit is combined with the sacral and emotional layering of Apocryphos and the rhythmical bass throbbing and isolated pianos of Atrium Carceri.
This album was created by cross linking 3 studios in Oregon (US), Pennsylvania (US) and Umeå (Sweden). It took over 3800 lines of studio notes to finalize the album.
Pumpkinrot beat me to the punch on this one, but I still wanted to throw it out there. I was quite pleasantly surprised by the announcement of John Carpenter's Lost Themes II, the follow up to last year's incredible debut release of non-soundtrack musical scores. Lost Themes II once again brings together the talents of Carpenter, his son Cody and his godson Daniel Davies, and is now available for pre-order at Sacred Bones Records. I can't wait to see what vinyl options will be available for this release (I wrote about the beautiful vinyl release of Lost Themeshere). As an added bonus, Carpenter has announced a U.S. tour later in the year to support Lost Themes II. Please Mr. Carpenter, please find a way to play Cleveland...
Trick or Treat Studios and Legendary are proud to present the
officially licensed Dark Elf Sheep Cote Clod, Dark Elf Window Pepper and Krampus Halloween Masks from the new
Christmas Classic, Michael Dougherty's Krampus.
These amazing masks come directly out of the screen used Resin Masters, which were provided to Trick or Treat Studios by Weta Workshop and finished by our Art Director, Justin Mabry.
I am REALLY impressed with the detail in these new masks and I can definitely see the Dark Elf Sheep Cote Clod making its way into my collection quickly.

Kammarheit's Pär Boström has just released a new teaser for his side project, Cities Last Broadcast. More dark ambient, but I'm REALLY liking the menacing sounds emanating from this clip. I can't wait for this release to come out, and according to Pär, we won't have long to wait...
A cold, weathered hand pierces the rust-laden earth of a late autumn night. Reanimated decay becomes the evening's guide. Masked faces bask in the fiery glow of a jack-o-lantern's illumination. A lifeless finger points the direction toward the next porch-lit house. For this is the night of ghouls and goblins and tricks and treats. This is the night of Hallowe'en...
