One More Week...

Just one more week until the start of October and the beginning of another creepy Countdown To Halloween Cemetery celebration! I'm all ready to go with a ton of posts for the entire month, so check back daily for the black-and-orange blog blowout. The party starts here promptly on October 1st. Don't be late...

Only 36 more days until Halloween. Are you ready?

Countdown To Halloween, 2023

Do people still read blogs? Ehh, I still do. And that's why I'm all in for another month-long celebration of the
Countdown To Halloween.

Starting October 1st, it will be another non-stop black-and-orange blitz of anything and everything Halloween. Heck, it's what makes the other eleven months of the year worth it!

Got a blog and wanna join in on the fun? Sign up to the official Countdown To Halloween masterlist here to find out more and be included in the celebration. And then we can share the Halloween fun with the rest of the people out there who still read blogs!

(But don't worry, I'll still be rolling out posts regularly from now until October 1st, just to keep the momentum going! So much still to share before the big party! And thanks again for stoping by!)

Pär Boström - "October"

Lots of things going on but nothing coming out of the Cemetery today, so have another helping of seasonal audio bliss. This one from Pär Boström, the dark ambient artist behind Kammarheit, Cities Last Broadcast, and other amazing projects.

Some gloomy autumn music. Enjoy.

Upon The Eve Of October

Just a quick heads up. The annual Countdown To Halloween starts tomorrow. Get ready.

The Countdown To Halloween, 2018

With a glance at the calendar, I do a double-take. Somehow, we have already reached the end of September. But how could that be!?!?

Regardless, it means only one thing. OCTOBER!!! And that means only one thing. THE COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN!!!

For the eighth year in a row, Highbury Cemetery will be participating in the annual Countdown To Halloween, a large gathering of like-minded miscreant bloggerss to celebrate everything great about October and the high holiday of All Hallows Eve. 31 posts in 31 days.

And I've got enough lined up to blow past 31 posts this year! The excitement and anticipation is hitting a fever pitch! But I have so much left to do, so it's back into the Cemetery garage to get as much as I can off of this year's to-do list.

Check back tomorrow (and daily throughout October) to help keep this party going. As with every year, I'll have Halloween music, Halloween reviews, Halloween props, Halloween photos, cemetery photos, pumpkin photos, pumpkin beers, Halloween freebies, Halloween contests, and a massive assortment of other Halloween madness to spread around.

I'll see everyone tomorrow. October is finally here. This is our season. And it's time to celebrate. Let's turn it up to 11 and raise the dead!

The Countdown To Halloween Begins!

The calendar flips. The lingering summer heat has gone, replaced by a crisp chill in the air. Lush, green vegetation begins its annual organic decay, illuminating to an inferno of yellow, orange, red and brown. The sound of fallen leaves crunch as you walk on a frost covered morning. The stiff flutter of dried cornstalks gathered in bunches. The first pumpkins gathered from their patches. The scents of cinnamon spices, wood fires, dried leaves and candy corn. Pumpkin coffee, pumpkin bread, pumpkin donuts, pumpkin beer, pumpkin cereal, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin treats. I don't care. I want it all. This. Is. October.

A tense, euphoric adrenaline blasts through my veins. To most, October signals the end. But to us, it signals the beginning. An awakened spark of energy. Invigorated creativity. Absolute excitement. A 31 day celebration of Fall. And, of Hallowe'en. The High Holiday. Samhain. All Hallows Eve. Jack-o-lanterns, monsters, costumes, candy, haunted houses, trick-or-treat. Truly, can there be a better time of year? Not for us...

Welcome to the Countdown to Halloween, 2017! Our annual 31-day celebration of all things Halloween. As in previous years, I have a full month of posts ready to go. My hands shake with excitement as I look down the list.

We'll have the annual Cemetery Sundays segment, in which I roam local cemeteries, photographing the ornate beauty of older tombstones and epitaphs (come back later today for our first installment!). I'll also be showing all of the new props, along with how-tos, that will be revealed in this year's edition of the Highbury Cemetery yard haunt. Sprinkle in various Halloween and haunt-themed music and art, as well as our annual t-shirt contest and our annual Freebie Fridays segments (you know, where you get FREE stuff!?), and we are in for one hell of a party. It will all culminate on the big night, with the reveal of Highbury Cemetery, 2017!

So welcome back to all the old friends and visitors and welcome to the new ones! Thanks for stopping by! Feel free to look around! I'm going to be posting like mad for the next 31 days, so stop back daily for more fun. And don't forget to check out the Highbury Cemetery YouTube Channel and Instagram page for even more Halloween-themed goodness.

October is finally here. Let's get the party started...

Wow. That's a lot of really great, classic horror films playing throughout the entire month. The folks over at TCM really put together a fantastic list that will keep me watching all month long. I guess now there's no reason to go over to the Freeform Channel and hold my nose while they play Hocus Pocus 56 times in a row...

Highbury Cemetery 2014 Logo

October. Finally. It's here. It's here! And that means only one thing...

It's the Countdown to Halloween! 31 posts in 31 days, all leading up to the grand celebration of the year... All Hallow's Eve. Samhain. Hallowe'en.

Welcome, new guests to the madness of Highbury Cemetery, a blog about all things Halloween. Movies. Costumes. Music. Pumpkins. And most importantly, home haunting!

I would also like to welcome back any and all previous visitors. I'm gearing up for another October full of posts in celebration of that most magical of days. Work in the garage has been at a feverish pace, pumping out a slew of new props for this year's version of the Cemetery. I've also got another bin full of goodies, just waiting to be shared on Freebie Fridays. The camera has been snapping away, documenting more local cemeteries to delight and inspire for Cemetery Sundays. And I'm even going to start a new segment called Throwback Thursdays. Just when we thought we did such a great job and had so much fun in 2013, 2014 looks set to blow it out of the water. So be sure to stop back daily and join the party. It's the best month of the year and I want to celebrate it with everyone! I may even have some contests in the coming weeks, where you'll be bound to win some cool Cemetery swag. But you'll need your thinking caps on!!

So let's get this party started! Every year, I like to whip up a little logo for my home haunt. It will be used for t-shirts, posters and stickers. I've been creating them for ten years running, and it's time to introduce the logo for 2014. Can't go wrong with some skulls and some splatters...

Countdown to Halloween, 2014

31 posts in 31 days? We did it last year, and this year we are going to do it again! It's time for the annual Countdown to Halloween! This year, the posts will be flying at you fast and furiously ranging from props how-tos all the way to haunt soundtracks that can give your yard or home haunt that extra creepy edge. We're also going to bring back our weekly installments of Cemetery Sundays as well as our fan favorite Freebie Fridays!

I have a few more posts to roll out in September, but the madness starts right here on October 1. Join us for the party, won't you?

One More Week Until October!

Just seven more days to go until October! The posts are being gathered for the annual Countdown to Halloween and we are getting excited to start the festivities to celebrate the greatest month of all! See you on the 1st!!
